December 2013 Furfriend of the Month is Bacon
You have met Cocco now it is time to meet Bacon 🙂
Do you think I’m handsome? Well Bacon you certainly get straight to the point 😉 you are one fine piggy LOL
How did you get the name?
This is easy. When mommy was little, her grandfather owned a farm. There was a farm pig that he had that she absolutely loved. When she visited, this pig would actually come up to her recognizing her and playing with her. She would often run through the fields chasing the pig – and the pig chasing her – and pulling his tail. From that point on, she always wanted her own piggy. AND, she always wanted to call him Bacon. She always told my daddy that she wanted one and when the opportunity came up, we both fell in love with each other. She called me Bacon the first time and I replied and snuggled up to her falling asleep. The name fit and it stuck.
How did you arrive at your fur ever home?
See above 🙂 I was a runt when I was born. My care takers took me into their home and bottle fed me. It wasn’t that my real mom didn’t love me, my care takers just didn’t think I was going to make it. I was SMALL. In fact when mommy adopted me at 3 weeks, I only weighed ONE pound. But, mommy was used to raising little fur babies and took great care of me. When I came into the Hotel Thompson, it was like it was meant for me. Mommy had one of the spare rooms turned into my nursery.
What is your favourite treat?
Now, this is tough. I love me some popcorn and apples and watermelon. I guess those are all tied. Oh, and we can’t forget about bananas. I once tried to climb up mommy’s bare legs to get to a banana she was holding – snorts. I even left treadmarks. It was all misunderstanding – PLOL (Pig laughing out loud).
Where do you sleep?
I have my own bedroom at the Hotel Thompson. It is now my grown up bedroom. I have a television, Netflix, DVD player, lots of videos to choose from, my potty patch and my toddler bed. I rock this bedroom. I know it’s all mine. I love it!
Who is your super hero?
Well, pig blushes. I gotta love Maxwell from the Geico commercials. That pig made it big. He’s famous now, has a girlfriend and is a movie star. One day, I want to be like him.
What is an average day for you?
I get mommy up for the worky place around 6:30AM. Can you believe she hasn’t had to set an alarm clock in over two years now? Nothing like a pig walking through your bedroom snorting and causing a ruckus to get you awake for breakfast. We eat breakfast together, snuggle a bit and watch the morning news. (I do this Monday thru Friday. Weekends, I get daddy up for breakfast so mommy can sleep in.) After breakfast, I go back for a couple of more hours of sleep and mom goes to work. Daddy works from home so he stays with me during the day. I usually get back up from my nap around 9AM and get a snack. I then watch television with dad until lunch time at noon. He fixes us both lunch and afterwards we both work out. He gets on the treadmill and me and Hemi run through the Hotel Thompson like there’s no tomorrow. After our work-out, I might take another nap. Hey, it’s hard maintaining this look and it takes a lot of beauty sleep 🙂 I get up around 2pm-3pm, call mom to check on her at the worky place and then I will work on my blog until about 5:30pm when mommy comes home. Mommy fixes me dinner and sometimes I’m her sous chef as she fixes hers and dads dinner. While her and dad eat theirs, I go to my room and meditate. It’s one of my favorite times of the days. After mom/dad get done, I run around the kitchen while mom is doing the dishes. Sometimes if I’m lucky, I get leftovers! Not much gets wasted having me around – snorts. Afterwards, I snuggle with mommy on the sofa and we watch television. Yep, I love me some television! I usually go to bed sometime around 9:30-10PM. I will actually get in my toddler bed, mom tucks me in and reads me a bedtime story. It’s a great time!
What do you hope to get under the Christmas tree this year?
I get a lot of toys – for some reason they are always shaped like a pig. I haven’t figured that out yet. The first year I was here at the Hotel Thompson, I got my television. Did I mention that I LOVE watching television? I also get soft blankets and food. I love food. I keep asking Santa for Miss Piggy but so far, that hasn’t happened. I’m not giving up though 🙂
oh Bacon you are adorable and we are so glad you took some time away from the TV to be interviewed x

He’s so cute! I shared your post with my friend Kaye George, whose Imogene Duckworthy mysteries feature a potbellied pig named Marshmallow and his three-year-old owner, Nancy Drew Duckworthy. They’re fun books, and Marshmallow is possibly the most level-headed character in them.
Aww, Bacon is super cute! 🙂 We hope Santa will put Miss Piggy under the Christmas tree!!!! 😉
Hugs and purrs,
Roxy & Tigerlino 🙂

Well you know that I love bacon – I talk about it all the time – but I also love my good piggy friend Bacon….we think we might be distant cousins in fact. He’s a barrel of fun and we think your interview with him was great!
