November Fur friend of the month – Hemingway & Shakespeare
Hemingway & Shakespeare from twocatsviews do you know them ? do you want to know more? PURRRR read on my friends
How did you come to your forever home?
We were both adopted from the Animal Humane Society, but at two different times and at two different locations. We’re so happy Mom chose us! When she went to visit me (Hemingway) I was crawling all over her and her girlfriend. They thought I was the funniest little kitten. She had seen my picture online and went straight out to get her. When Mom came to meet me (Shakespeare) it was on a very stormy night and the sirens were going off and everything. I didn’t think she would come but she did. I really didn’t like to be held but I sure had fun exploring the office where Mom met me.
Why are you called Hemingway & Shakespeare?
Tell us about your personalities
Shakespeare: I’m rather aloof. I don’t like to be held but I love to be petted. I always want to know what people are talking about so if Mom is talking with the neighbors, I have to go up to the fence and check things out. I’m very proud of my long fluffy tail and I hold it up in the air all the time. Mom sometimes calls me the Orange Blaze ‘cuz I can run really, really fast…..especially if it’s time to eat! I love to eat. I purr when I eat!
Hemingway: I may be a little bit of a brat. Mom says I’m always knocking things off the desks, tables and other surfaces. She’s had to remove lots of stuff ‘cuz I keep knocking it down. I love to watch things fall over the edge! I also love my special time with Mom after supper. We sit and watch TV together and I fall asleep in her arms. I’m not much of a purrer, but Mom knows I’m happy. I love the dogs who live by us and I like to visit them. Mom gets mad at me ‘cuz I like to wake up really early and then I start grooming her. I just love to lick her ear and then she makes funny sounds. Oh, and when it comes to treats, I know how to sit up and beg for my treat!
Your favourite treat?
Both of us love fresh catnip. Mom grows it in her yard so we get to enjoy it when it’s warm. For some reason it seems to die when winter comes and then we’re sad. We also really, really love our treats at night. Mom makes sure we get something good before we go to bed. We’re not super fussy as long as it’s crunchy and has some good flavors.
Your super hero?
We both think Mom is our super hero. She takes care of us and makes sure that we are happy. Aren’t all Moms supposed to be super heroes?
What is an average day for you?
Our average day has changed a little since Mom isn’t working right now. Before we would say goodbye to her in the morning and then we would nap most of the day, except for those times we would romp through the house. Now that she’s not working, we try to go outside for some fresh air in the morning and again in the afternoon. We watch the birdies, rabbits and squirrels outside the windows. Sometimes we run from window to window to get a better view. Sometimes we pull out lots of our toys and leave them scattered around. We also have to spend time working on our blog and chatting with our fur friends around the world. Then we look for sun puddles and nap again.
You are long haired moggies – what precautions does your slave take so you do not get matted?
Mom says she’s so lucky with us. Neither one of us has a problem with matting and we both take really good care of our fur. Brushing is one of the favorite times for Hemingway as he flips and flops all over the place to make sure every spot is brushed. Shakespeare doesn’t have time for brushing and will usually only allow a brief amount of brushing.
What would you say to anyone thinking of getting more then one moggie for their home?
It’s always great to have company. Sometimes it’s hard to introduce a new fur person into a home with an older fur person, but with patience it can be done. We still sometimes have our quarrels, but basically we get along fine. We keep each other company when Mom is gone so that’s a good thing. If the human has the time, patience and money to support more than one fur person, it’s a great thing. Besides, there are so many fur people out there who need homes.
Any thing you want to share that we do not know about you already?
We are having so much fun meeting other fur people from all over the world. It’s so neat to find so many humans who want to take care of us fur people.
Thank you guys for taking the time out to meow to us today high paws 🙂

I like your names too… specially Hemmingway is a super name for a cat, I mean, we all dream about the big fish we will get once like the man in the novel The Old Man And The Sea :O) And for a blogging cat, Shakespeare is perfect, bet you will be as famous as Mr. William once :o)
Great interview with our buds Hemmingway and Shakespeare……!!

We want to say thanks for putting up such a great article about us. We love to meet and greet new friends around the world. By the way, Mom already told us that we don’t get extra treats for doing this interview. She seems to think we get plenty. We’re going to put on our “feel sorry for us ‘cuz we are so treat deficient” looks and she’ll cave in! Thanks all!!!
