Welcome our new brother
First lets show you some photos of our handsome selves as we are the main stars here MEOWWWWWWW
Please welcome to our family Ben a rough collie aged 7 years old a rescue dog 🙂
As you can see he has only been with us 24 hours and already settled in nicely.
We moggies are not impressed but understand that as this is his 4th home and Michelle and Craig have no intention of getting rid of him, we need space and will spend most the time out the way till we feel ready to meet him properly.
Henry and Archie did meet Ben initially but that was more ‘WHAT THE HELL’ and ‘WE WERE HERE FIRST SO NOT MOVING’ attitude. As soon as Ben got his second walk those two disappeared out the lounge.
Anyone got any tips moving forward we would love to read them xxx

My cousin had a dog first and was about to rescue a cat. Her vet told her before bringing in the cat to get rid of all squeaky toys, so the dog would not mistake the cat for a squeaky toy and try to….um…squeak it. So my advice is – don’t buy Ben any squeaky toys. Good luck with him! He’s gorgeous!
Thank you we have just soft cuddly toys and balls at the moment and that is all he likes :-). We are still learning about him as only had him a day xx
Ben is a beautiful dog…..four homes? That’s sad……….I know you will love him and help him feel secure. Glad the moggies don’t mind him sharing “their” space.
Pam
Need to get them in same room again xx
Dear King Henry&royal kitty-court, please share your kingdom with Ben. He needs a loving home like yours and I’m sure the 3 moggies have a heart for this cute pup too and will give him no hisses but purrs once :o)
Here’s to it working out quickly for Ben. He’s gorgeous! We’ve tried adding puppies to adult cats and kittens to adult dogs and have has various degrees of success. Are you cage training Ben? That can really help. Rewards are great too – for both the cats and the dog 🙂
Not at the moment. We are going to try the distract and reward training as we have watched a few videos online. We will let you know how it goes
What a very beautiful doggie! ♥♥♥
Congrats. He’s handsome.

Ben’s home at last. I’m still working on integrating a formerly-stray cat with two resident cats. It’s been three years and still they tussle. But it’s all bluster so we’re coping. Treats definitely help.
I think as long as handsome Ben respects the kitty turf and possessions all will work out okay. It did when we had doggies.
SO do we 🙂
Ben looks great – as you do, too, of course. 😉 I’m so happy for him that Michelle and Craig are giving him a furever home. 🙂 Kudos to them.
And as for you getting used to him: check this [http://travelswithchoppy.com/2016/01/06/watch-for-incoming-cats/] out and maybe be “copycats”?! 😉 You’ll soon be friends, I’m sure, like Sally and our kitties here [https://pitstexasexpatblog.wordpress.com/2012/09/20/threesome-2/].
Have a wonderful time together,
Pit
Thank you Pitt
You’re welcome. 🙂
I hope everything works out, I have a feeling it will. He is a pretty dog.
Dakota had to come over when he heard there was a WOOFIE here! Welcome handsome Ben!!!!!! Are you sure he is mostly Collie? His nose is much more Shetland Sheepdog!! How tall is he? How much does he weigh? He truly looks more Shetland Sheepdog than Rough Collie………Collie’s noses are much, much longer and narrower.
Either way, Collie’s and Shetland Sheepdogs LOVE kitties so I am sure they will all be getting along in no time!! He is one handsome, handsome dog! xoxo DakotasDen
We will have to read more on the breeds to find out. Care I may need more advice like how to keep the coat in top condition :-). What do you give Dakota to help keep plaque off teeth?
He look lovely. Hope the moggies get used to him soon x
Absolutely no tips, but we all applaud you for adopting Ben. Four previous homes must have him really confused. Hope he and the moggies get to be good friends. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Yay for giving Ben a home.
He is mighty handsome!
No advice, but lots of purrs for an easy integration 🙂

Ben is very handsome…and paws up for giving him a home. We sure hope everybuddy becomes good furiends.
What a gorgeous woofie! You all don’t look too bothered so hope it all works out. Four homes is enough!
Thanks guys. We are learning a lot about each other at the moment x
welcome Ben….our mom tells new parents to take it slow and don’t push anyone. treats help. and make sure the kitties have somewhere to retreat to…..
Thank you 🙂 x
You three darlings will always have that special place in Michelle and Craig’s hearts; so let Ben have a little room, after all, he is a dog!
Thank you x
Time – lots of time. When I came to live at the Hotel Thompson, there were the two purr things here. Mom would bring me into the living room and hold me at first. Then she would sit me beside her and then put me on the floor. All of this took time. The purr things were in the living room and they slowly got used to me. We are doing the same thing with Houdini. Now he is taking longer because he is what daddy calls HYPER – snorts with piggy laughter. So time. And Welcome Ben to the blogville family! XOXO – Bacon
What a handsome dog and we’re delighted to hear he is settling in well. We’re sure after a few sniffs your cats will get used to having him around.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
