If cats have nine lives, Henry’s used three already

As Henry was famous yesterday on the BBC Northampton radio we thought we would share this post about the young moggie again.

As soon as we have clip of broadcast we will blog x

My Three Moggies

Henry is the baby of our family – and he doesn’t half need looking after.
As a youngster he often disappeared to the nearby woods for days, leaving his mum to worry or trudge out to carry him home.

We hope Henry will conserve the lives he has left. I (Hitch) am on at least number four. I don’t remember much before I came to my forever home, so I might have used even more. The 1st one I remember was when I sat in the center of the road in order to stop my adult male human. Luckily, he was quick on the brake and managed to avoid me. When he got out to see if he’d hit a squirrel or something, I slipped into his truck and waited for him to realize he’d been adopted. That’s how I got my name. I hitched a ride home. Then my other two lives were lost in a similair way. See these humans I adopted feel that, due to the area we live in, that I need to stay indoors. But when I first moved in I was used to hunting for my dinner, which might explain why is was so skinny, but twice a squirrel taunted me until I slipped out the front door as a human came in and chased it up one of the tall pine trees beside the house. Sadly, going up is much easier than going down. Thankfully, we have wonderful neighbors and I,have a very loud voice. While my humans were calling the fire department asking for help, I was also yelling at the top of my lungs. The neighbors, after first approaching our neighbors, because the trees are theirs, then appro he’s my hysteric humans, who suggested they also call the fire department for help. Well, wouldn’t you know, after a great many calls to the non-emergency number ( we wouldn’t want someone with an actual fire to fine no one home ) a lovely, long ladder truck arrived in front of our house. I shouted to the firefighters, who promptly put on protective gear and, after planting their truck and blocking our street, extended a very long ladder that managed to get up as high as I was. The firefighter, Greg, mentioned to me on the way down that he was glad they’d brought the longest ladder. He wondered why I would climb so high if I was afraid to go back down. I kept silent though. It happens to be a cat secret. Anyway, you could replay this story exactly 6 months and 2 days into the future…like a rerun on the television. Except I didn’t get that fireman’s name as he was much less chatty. Turns out, fire departments in the States don’t rescue cats from trees anymore, unless an entire neighborhood calls over and over and the Cheif is an animal lover. Since then ,y humans have managed to grab me before I can get too far when I dash for the door…and I have matured enough to laugh at the antics of the silly squirrels. After all, I’ve spent a night in their nest and my bed inside is much more comfy. Sorry for the lengthy post. After reading about Henry’s adventures I got a bit nostalgic. Perhaps someday we can exchange war stories, by phone or,email of course. I’m pretty sure the fire department won’t fetch me from.across the,Atlantic.

  3. LOL where about are you in America? Love reading other animal tales as it makes me realise my boys are not the only ones that cause trouble 🙂 xx

  4. mistletoeandhitch
