June 2014 – Fur Friend of the Month is LIBOBAH
Mika, Lexus and Koda from Love is being owned by a husky are our fur friends of the month 🙂
So who are these beautiful siberian huskies … Lets find out 🙂
How did you guys come to your forever home?
First we have to tell you our human is going to answer for us as we are all excited to be interviewed and each barking away.
I got all of my huskies in a different way. To keep this short and sweet, I will answer this one for Lexus. Lexus came from a backyard breeder. This place had had 65 Siberian Huskies seized from them. Lexus was one of those dogs. She was 4 months old and had 3 sisfurs the same age. The man was using these dogs as sled dogs in Quebec, however, they were not being cared for properly, and that is one of many reasons the dogs were seized.
Your names are beautiful how did you get them?
Mika was named when we adopted her. Lexus, because she reminded me of an elegant, beauty. I love the Lexus brand car, and that name seemed to fit best. Koda, simply because I have always loved that name for a male husky.
The Siberian Husky, Samoyed and Alaskan Malamute breeds they say have become very popular since the twilight movies and Game of Thrones (especially in UK). How do you feel about that?
Ya know, these types of breeds are not for everyone. I sort of think it is silly to see a movie, and run out to buy a pet that resembles one from that movie. If you don’t learn what it takes to be owned by this breed, then you have no clue what your getting into.
Do you need much exercise each day?
My huskies love their exercise, NEED their exercise. Some people make it seem like huskies need hourless endless runs, but this is not true. I have 3, and they are happy with one or two walks a day, and playing in our yard. We also let them run free in the dog parks, usually once a week, as well as doing some kind of games with them, such as hide and seek with treats, this keeps their mind stimulated as well.
What is your favourite treat?
Huskies can be picky! Sometimes, they will turn their nose up at a treat, and not go near it! Their fav treats are Benny Bullies.
Any advise for anyone who has a dog already and thinking of getting another one?
Hmmmm…..that’s a tough one. I would say, if your going from two dogs to three dogs, there is not a whole lot of a difference. However getting a second dog, there are lots of changes to be made. Walks are different, feeding time is different. A big thing is making your first dog know that they are still number one. I think a lot of people bring in a new pup and pay less attention to their first. What I try and do, is make sure each dog gets some alone time with me. This way I can make them each feel special in my own way. Do your research, make sure your life can handle multiple dogs. Be ready!
Can you tell us something we do not know already about you?
My life is pretty open since I have been blogging. Its hard to think of something people may not know about me. Hmm…I haven’t always been owned by huskies. They are the breed for me, and I can’t see ever having a different breed now, but my fav breed was always a PitBull. They are very sweet loving dogs, and I have had a few in my lifetime.
Thank you ladies and gentleman it was lovely interviewing you and I am so glad you know our other pals Miskai and Rumpy who are the same breed 🙂

Hugs, Sammy
I’m glad Lexus found a much better home, it makes me so sad when I read about people who treat dogs that way Lexus’ breeder did. They are wonderful and it’s a gift to share your home with nordic dogs.
The Siberian huskies look much too big for us to want to meet them in the flesh.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
