April 2014 Fur friend of the Month – Timmy

Hi Timmy thanks for being our friend of the month 🙂

Would you do us the honours of explaining the three photos of your handsome self.

One is me and my favorite toy Mr Kliban Kitty. Dad got this fur me and it is my favorite. The next is me welcoming little Einstein. Dad saved his life which is a story in itself. The last photo is my Cat Scout photo. I am so proud to be a good Cat Scout who puts his best paw furward.

How did you come to your Furever home and be called Timmy?

Dad was living with his kitty Inky who was 20 years old. There was a nice neighbor girl who was a volunteer for Spay and Save which is a small rescue where we live. Dad and her had talked and she knew he was a serious “Cat Guy.” One day she called to Dad when he got home from work and asked him if he would like a kitten. He said no as he had an old kitty and it would not be good for him. She kept at Dad and finally she said if it did not work out she would take “Potter” back. Dad said he would give it a go. I was a good kitty and was pals with Inky from the first. The girl had named my after Harry Potter and Dad and me really did not think that was a name for a Tomcat. He looked at me and said: “How about Timmy, Timmy Tomcat?” I gave a big MEOW. and that was that. I had a forever home and a new name.

What is your favourite treat?

I am not very food oriented. I like to stay fit and never overeat. (Unlike my furmaly) I am actually over 14 pounds which always amazes Dad as I look smaller than my brofurs. I am solid muscle.
All our meals are wet food as Dad thinks that is healthier. We do get a little bit of kibble at night before Dad goes to read so I guess that is my favorite.

You live with other cats.  How do you get on with each one? 

I am Top Cat and get along with evfurrry one of my furmaly. I am the only kitty who plays with all the rest.
Buddy and me play the most. We have great whacky-paw times.

Toby and I wrestle now and then. We used to play a lot more but he has gotten a bit crabby.

Miss Fitz and I like to run along our Cat Walk and switch who chases who at each end. Great fun.

Rumpy likes to wrestle. We do that a little. No one ever played with Rumpy till Einstein came so I felt sorry for him. He grew up in a small cage and was a rescue from the state of Virginia. He never learned to “speak cat” so does not listen when told to stop.

Buttons is funny. He will get someone else running and then I jump in and join in the chase. Great fun. For us that is.

Einstein. He is a bit wild but I play with him. I think Rumpy is a bad influence.

Who is your super hero?

Hmmmm. I never thought about it. Wolverine is cool with his claws He should be more cat like. My real hero is Rusty from Warriors. He becomes Firestar who is a leader and a great marmalade cat.

What do you like most about blogging?

All the great friends I have made. It is really fun to read all the different blogs and see all the fun that cats have all over the world. Really great.

Any advice to anyone considering having more than one cat?

I think it is something that you have to be very careful about. Dad works very hard with us to keep the peace. He also understands about our health and makes sure we get checked out if we need it. It is a big commitment and one that I feel some humans go into without much thought. We see all these elders going to shelters and it breaks our hearts.
If you really want more than one cat then try and make room for a special needs or elder cat. Dad says that when you put the effort in you will get a very special cat friend.
