How the Moggies welcomed back Mummy

Mum has finally come home – and the Moggies greeted her in their own special ways.
In their own meows, here’s how they welcomed her back.

It all started yesterday evening…
6pm. Dad hadn’t come home yet, but Archie and I were waiting.
Our stomachs were grumbling like Victor Meldrew. Of course, Archie is always hungry, but I’d missed breakfast due to the sudden onslaught of British Summer Time.
There’s so much more to do in the summer. Chase your tail, sit in the woods, chase your shadow, rub your chops, what larks! Anyway, I digress.
Finally we heard the door go, he must be home.
But he wasn’t alone! It was Mum, back from skydiving on the Australian Gold Coast (or dog sitting in Milton Keynes, I can’t remember which).
There was only one thing for it. Scream as loud as you can! Mum, mum, mum, hello Mum, I’m here, Mum!
After that I had to rub round her legs at least 20 times because she smelled suspiciously of large canines. Not a good whiff, Mum!
Anyway, after that I flopped in front of her and I think she got the message: look at what you’ve been missing.
It was only then that I remembered how hungry I was. So I had to work my lungs into a frenzy again and scream until she fed me.
After that it was lawn mowing time, which I like to watch. Then a quick pick up and cuddle.
And chill out time. Then a cuddle. And, this morning, lie on the bed time – and a cuddle!
It’s good to have Mum home.

It all started yesterday evening…
The be-yatch came back! You might think I’m wrong to call Mum that, but she left me for almost a week.
And it wasn’t the first time either! This needs to be sorted – hence why I have launched ‘Operation Slap the Slave’.
I must admit I was surprised – and secretly feeling like the puss that got the prawns – when I saw Mum was home.
But I wasn’t going to admit to that, so I put on my best grumpy face and turned my back on her. And when she came to say hello I made sure I gave her ankles a good whack!
Yeah, I admit it, I did give in a bit and sat on her knee. And I deigned to join her on the bed this morning.
But I think my plan is working, after all we just had salmon for dinner. Me-yum!

It all started yesterday evening…
I was out patrolling when it happened so I didn’t find out for half an hour.
When I came back, everyone was there, out enjoying the garden. Everyone, including Mum!
All of us Three Moggies had been wondering when she’d be home. It had been too long… what had we done to be abandoned for a dog?
Once she was home, I needed to make sure she never left again.
A quick feed later and it was time. There was hunting to do. Mum needed presents!
I think I did rather well, here’s what I got her…
11pm: Mouse time. Fresh from the woods. Had to shout a bit to let her know as she’d gone to bed for a early night, but I think she liked it. Of course, she did, who wouldn’t like a nice mouse!
4.15am: Took a bit of effort, but it was worth it. A big, yummy birdie! Had to shout a bit again: ‘Here you go Mum… Hope you like it’. Luckily the humans had left their window open so I was able to tell them all about it.
6.30am: I wasn’t finished. Had to spoil her. Don’t want my Mum going away again. A second mouse. What a gift! Mum seemed genuinely surprised…
Today, mission accomplished, I’m tired but happy.
Funnily enough Mum seems a bit tired too…
